A joint announcement from Secretaries Geithner and Chu marked the beginning of around $3 billion dollars in support of renewable energy projects in lieu of tax credits.  As posted earlier on this blog, these upfront rebates will significantly enable private-sector development of clean energy for thousands of Americans.

A list of the projects awarded funding from the Departments of Treasury and Energy will grow quickly because a mandatory 60 day turn-around schedule closes at the end of the month.

The increase in construction and manufacturing jobs dovetails nicely with the goal of doubling the nation’s renewable energy production in the next few years.
